Mandoza started taking Vulcan Silver while he was undergoing aggressive Radiation and Chemotherapy for brain cancer. At the outset doctors told him to expect severe side effects including lack of mobility and that he would be unable to drive himself to his appointments. Not only was he able to drive himself when none of the other patients who started treatments at the same time could, he also managed to perform on stage during that time.
